Pass it Forward

Choose an act of kindness from the list below. Spin the wheel to get a random suggestion. Consider if this is an act of kindness you can and would like to offer. If not, spin the wheel again and see is there an act of kindness that fits for you that you would like to offer!

Consider writing, drawing or moving your body to savour any positive emotions experienced while showing kindness.

  1. Compliment someone you talk to today.
  2. Pay it Backward: buy coffee for the person behind you in line.
  3. Hold a door open for someone.
  4. Post inspirational sticky notes around your neighbourhood, office, library, etc.
  5. Surprise a neighbour with freshly baked cookies or treats!
  6. Let someone go in front of you in line who only has a few items.
  7. Throw a party to celebrate someone just for being who they are
  8. Smile at a stranger.
  9. Set an alarm on your phone to go off at three different times during the day. In those moments, do something kind for someone else.
  10. Give away stuff for free on a recycle/ freecycle platform.
  11. Get involved in a clean up party at a beach or park or in a community garden.
  12. Everyone is important. Learn the names of people you meet in your daily routine, a security guard, the person at the front desk, or the person making your coffee.
  13. Find opportunities to give compliments. It costs nothing, takes no time, and could make someone’s entire day. Don’t just think it. Say it.
  14. Help out a family member or friend who your know is busy.
  15. Email or write to a former teacher or a person who made a difference in your life.
  16. Leave a good book on a bus or park bench for someone to find
  17. Listen to someone’s story
  18. Pick up a piece of litter
  19. Make your best friend or other half a collage of pics of your favourite times together to cheer them up.
  20. Give your favourite book to someone to read.
  21. Think of someone who’s struggling with something in life, and send them an encouraging text telling them they’re doing a great job, or that you admire them. It could be just what they need.
